METANEPHRINES (URINE)
This test is useful where symptoms include persistent or recurring hypertension along with a host of other symptoms which include headaches, sweating, flushing, and rapid heart rate.
Metanephrine is a metabolite of epinephrine
Metanephrine testing is primarily used to help detect and rule out pheochromocytomas in symptomatic patients. The test can either be a plasma metanephrine test or a urine metanephrine test.
Additional tests are generally usefull when looking at metanephrines are urine catecholamine tests and plasma catecholamine tests
