URINE MICROSCOPY
NEW METHODOLOGY
iQ ® 200 Sprintâ„¢ Automated Urine Microscopy
This laboratory solution eliminates time used to prepare and interpret particle images by automating specimen preparation, image recognition and interpretation.
Urine analysis results will look exactly the same as previously, with the exception of the reporting of red and white blood cells. Conventional, subjective opinion is replaced by objective, quantitative and automated interpretation. Instead of white and red cells being reported per high power field (HPF) they will now be expressed as an absolute number of cells per microlitre (uL) without a reference range – for example 259 u/L.

Example:
A urine result with a WBC count that previously showed (+) could not differentiate between 10 to 50 cells/HPF. This count can now be accurately quantified and if it shows, for example, a result of 47/HPF, the result of (+) will now be reported as 259 u/L.
All the other parameters concerning microscopy and chemistry will be presented in exactly the same way they used to be reported.
